This week I had a thought as I went through the week’s 73 photos. So… look at the photos when you read this and hopefully my comments below will make sense to you. Here are the highlights from this week….. (that match up to the photos, in order)
- Les is still here- YAY! He and Allen worked on a lot of interior finish carpentry.
- The weather was gorgeous and the view was spectacular!
- Mr. Garcia’s team continued with the exterior painting.
- The mudroom cabinetry has progressed.
- No, we’re not painting the turret blue… that’s just the underlayment for the masons. Isn’t the stone beautiful!!
- Check out the curved live edge seat for the mudroom cabinetry! These trees were cut from our property, dried in the garage for 18 months, then used to create incredible woodwork! Thank you Les and Allen. These guys are SO good!
- Gina (Mr. Garcia) did a great job staining the decorative trusses inside the great room.
- The exterior of the house is coming together nicely.
- Check out Les’s tree! It’s really special for me to have him here and share his talent with this home. I love that he’s recreated a Snow Bear Chalets’ tree here too!
- I use essential oils as my medicine cabinet, and now I actually have the cabinet to store them! Thank you Allen for creating this!
- Allen has been busy. He created a custom vanity for the powder room and surprised me with it. Now he’s adding the doors and it’s almost complete! Wow, thank you Allen!
- James and Jaden were busy with creating the steps to the backyard from the deck off of the great room. I love how the staircase wraps around the fireplace.
- Alex and the trim team finished up almost all of the interior window and door trim. It looks great!
- Les spent a lot of time getting the tree completed- perfectly. The only thing we need to add are the tree limbs after everything else has been completed.
- The interior beam staining continues…. As does the masonry on the turret.
- Frederick’s Appliances delivered and installed the Thermador appliances on Wednesday. Now it really feels like a home!
- James, Jaden, Allen and Les continued to work on the finish carpentry.
- Slavic took an afternoon and added Montana Moss to the fireplace in the primary suite. I love it! He’s so fast!
- We had a problem with the quartz in the lower powder room and also need quartzite for the upper powder room… so I headed back to Kent to walk through the remnant yards. I think I’ve finalized our choices and hopefully we can get this completed in the next week or so.
- The masonry on the turret and primary suite fireplace continued.
- The bookcase covering the hidden staircase to the turret was complete. THANK YOU LES for coming over from Montana to build this for us! Allen and James will complete the rest of the finish carpentry in this upper office area next week.
- The masonry on the turret is complete! Now we just have to remove the scaffolding and it will look spectacular!
- Les and Allen continue to plan how to build the remaining items that we still need.
- The staining of the beams is complete! Thank you Gina!
- Thank you Linda (our neighbor) for the lovely tulips from her garden. What a bright spot in my week!
- The exterior painting is almost complete. The cedar soffit is almost finished with the polyurethane coating. I love how this is coming together.
- The weather is still warm and sunny, which I so appreciate! Look at that view!
- Les is almost finished with the tree bark on the lower spiral steps.
- More finish carpentry happened with the start of the creation of the pantry. Thank you James and Allen!
- More poly on the back soffit… we’re getting there.
- The electricians did a lot of their interior trim, including the installation of the exterior lights on the garage. Oh so pretty! The main chandeliers were held up by customs in LA. I’m really looking forward to seeing them installed- soon!
- Rafi helped with the removal/battery charge/replacement of the time-lapse camera that is high up in a tree out front. Thanks to Darryl for creating that video each week!
- I’ve been working on the design for the moss wall, and exploring the beautiful moss that surrounds us here in the Pacific Northwest woods. The color is such a lush, brilliant green! I can’t find anyone who has ever created something like this, so the research continues.
- Another flower (yes, I’m still taking time to smell the flowers) and this one was growing in our garden. Thanks to the former owners of the property who must have planted this. I love it!
- The photos close with a photo taken from the top of the turret, looking down into the valley. It is such a beautiful vista that I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of enjoying it.
Overall, it was a great week, in spite of Darryl being out of town, the pups being sick and me being incredibly busy. Thank you to the team for all of your support and progress. I appreciate you!
